Welcome to the Psychology Department

A Statement from Our Department:

The recent killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbury, and Breonna Taylor have forced Americans to face the on-going pandemic of racism, injustice, and inequality among us and those within the Black community. It is vital that we recognize that these issues are deeply woven into the fabric of our country.

As a community of psychological scientists, we recognize the toll that systemic and individual racism takes on our students, our community, and our nation, particularly on our Black students and colleagues.  We stand with those who seek justice, who march against oppression, and who sacrifice themselves to make others’ lives better.  We acknowledge that we have often fallen short of these ideals; we are committing to recognizing these shortfalls and working to create an environment where all can flourish.
